Estimated tax benefit
S&P 500 Direct had an estimated tax benefit worth 4.54% of our average client’s portfolio value in its first year
Daily estimated tax savings are calculated for each client by multiplying the actual amount of harvested losses for each client with their implied tax rate. We then aggregate these daily estimated tax savings across all participating accounts to determine the total daily estimated tax savings for the S&P 500 Direct strategy. From this, the daily benefit yield is calculated by dividing this total daily estimated tax savings by the total S&P 500 Direct market value of that day. Summing the daily benefit yield over all days (12/01/2024-11/30/2025), we arrive at the 4.54% estimated tax benefit. This is an estimate. Actual tax savings will vary based on an individual’s specific situation. Performance is not guaranteed. Investors should consult with a tax professional regarding their specific circumstances.
Your estimated tax benefit will be a function of your combined state and federal marginal tax rate. Let us help you determine what it could be worth to you.

The projections generated by this interactive analysis tool regarding estimated annual tax benefits are hypothetical, do not reflect actual results, and do not guarantee future outcomes. Results may vary with each use and over time.
We assume investors have sufficient short-term and long-term capital gains of the same type to fully offset harvested losses. For the annual harvesting yield, we aggregated the actual harvesting yields from clients' S&P 500 Direct portfolios to determine an annualized harvesting yield as of 12/31/2025 (12.03% short-term and 0.01% long-term). Tax rates are then inferred based on user inputs for state, filing status, and annual income. We also assume the standard deduction is taken and include net investment income tax, when applicable. The estimated tax benefit percentages from short-term and long-term losses is determined by multiplying the respective harvesting yields by their corresponding tax rates, and the estimated annual tax benefit percentage is the sum of both. These calculations are for illustrative purposes only; actual individual tax outcomes and harvesting yields will vary, and past performance is not indicative of future results.

Information presented in this chart is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a recommendation or advice to open an account or to utilize any specific investment strategy. Account minimums, annual advisory fees, and margin interest rates are accurate as of September 10, 2026, but are subject to change by the respective financial institutions without notice. Please check their respective websites for a complete listing and up to date rates. Margin interest rates at competitor firms are typically tiered based on the debit balance and may vary or be negotiated depending on various factors. For traditional advisors, we assumed a 1% fee, but actual fees may differ than what’s presented here. Parametric is also included with traditional advisors since they’re a leading institutional provider of direct indexing services (their Custom Core offering comes with a $250,000 minimum requirement) for financial advisors.
