Vanguard Tax-Exempt Bond Index ETF
VTEB - Municipal bonds
VTEB aims to track the performance of the S&P National AMT-Free Muni Bond Index, which contains a diversified selection of investment grade US Municipal Bonds - bonds issued by states, municipalities, or counties to finance projects such as highways, airports, or schools. The dividend payments of municipal bonds are exempt from federal income taxes. VTEB is appropriate for investors seeking medium to long-term income with more tax-efficiency than standard bonds. VTEB is subject to interest rate risk, as well as risk that changes in tax laws will make the tax treatment of municipal bonds less favorable.
When VTEB declines in value, we’ll automatically sell it and buy the alternate as part of our tax-loss harvesting strategy.
